I’ve seen Chinese calligraphy written in water many, many times, but this past weekend was the first time I saw it in chalk. (Maybe I just need to go to Chinese parks more?)
Really? I’ve seen (presumably) crippled beggars writing long scrolls with chalk on the street. Granted, I never saw anything like this, exactly — not in person at least. Good stuff!
The balloon outline is a new one for me but my university in Australia is frequently adorned with chalked calligraphy. Adverts, notices, political statements.
I really love this outline style, needs a lot of thought to consider what each stroke will look like and how they’ll intersect. Very readable too.
Looks very nice and cool but I still prefer the big, wet paintbrush painting characters with water thing..

Where have you seen funky 汉字 graffiti in Shanghai? This looks very cool, and I’d love to see some bright colorful ‘artwork’ on garbage dumps too hah.
