Well, here goes. After much procrastination and a decent amount of boredom, I present my first blog. I was first made aware of this deal by my ever tech-savvy friend Ben (), but seeing as I was in China for the year my ability to actually load the Blogspot page was sporadic at best. Now I'm back on Canadian soil for the summer, so I'm ready for some good online rambling!
So what direction is this blog going to take? I guess I could go on about relationships, but I'm sure I'd just bore you (and myself). I could talk about China, but that would probably defeat the whole "spur of the moment" blog thing, seeing as I'm not even there anymore. (although maybe I'll continue this when I go back there in September '03) I could become hopelessly cynical and log the aimless, wandering life of a twentysomething Montrealer in the early 21st century..but I won't. I'm 23, have a good university degree, spent an awesome year abroad, and am now relaxing in beautiful summer weather...so, yeah, the outlook is decently upbeat right now (although the title of this blog gives away the fact that it's not always so) If the world is a complete mess, at least my place in it, thankfully, is not.
Well, there you have it, I just spent a whole paragraph not answering the question it started with. So what will I be blogging about? I'm guessing a lot of politics. Wait! don't run off just yet...I'm not talking about droning on like some pompous op-ed about Iraq, Bush, Quebec separatism or the fun world of tax cuts. I intend to have a ton of fun with this thing! Look for such future blog entries as Dictatorships for Fun and Profit, followed by The War on Terrorism: How to Bomb a Concept, and maybe even Why Beer Can Save the World. I can't promise you any structure, or even much coherent thought...just lots of rambling and jaded observations from a young bum who thinks that if you can't always like the world, at least you can always laugh at it.
shout out to: Ben, Uncle Saddam (GREAT movie, check it out), hilarious Bush administration press conferences
