Jobs and Internships at Praxis

Just a quick note about some open positions with the company I work for, Praxis Language (the ChinesePod people):

ChinesePod Product Manager. Help keep ChinesePod running smoothly, while contributing to the best Mandarin lesson on the net. Managerial experience, Chinese ability, and insight into education required. Full-time position in Shanghai.

ChinesePod Interns. Participate in the community and help us improve the product. Great for students of Chinese in Shanghai, as we can be flexible about the work times. Part-time position in Shanghai.

FrenchPod Lead Teacher. Help make the best podcasts for learning French. Teaching experience and fluency in French required, but you can’t be a native speaker of French — this teacher needs to have the learner perspective. Full-time position in Shanghai.

E-mail me if you’re interested in applying. Thanks!

  1. So when are you guys opening that Beijing branch?

  2. What is wrong with the current FrenchPod lead teacher? Thanks.

  3. Need a Taipei branch, for balance of course.

  4. Just curious about the qualifications required for the internship positions? What level of mandarin? What skills? What education? Would it pay enough to live in shanghai or would they need to repair bikes on the side? 🙂 I’m currently looking for options to move to China permanently.. You know a little about me and a little about my levels of mandarin, perhaps a little about the way my mind works etc.. Would I even come close to meeting the requirements for something like that?

  5. Brendan,

Still waiting to see which will win: man or desert.

  6. Edwin,

There’s nothing wrong with Erica; she does a great job. For personal reasons, though, she won’t be able to stay at FrenchPod long-term.

  7. light487,

There aren’t a lot of skill requirements for the internships, but they’re only part-time internships and pay very little… basically suitable just for students looking for work experience.

  8. Aww man! I would love to be there as an intern! Problem is I’m back in the states for school…shucks.

  9. Oh, I am sorry to hear about Erica leaving. I like her voice very much. I hope Praxis will find another Erica.

You sound like she will still be with FrenchPod for a while right?

  10. ChinesePod Product Manager… MMmmm… Dream job. Too bad for the whole massive chicken+egg problem as in my having no management experience (although that’s arguably a lot easier to get in China than anywhere else on earth!)

[hope this isn’t a double post, I posted yesterday from Google Chrome and it seemed to not work]

  11. where are you located ?

  12. Edwin,

She’ll be around for a little while yet, yes.

  13. johnny,

    Shanghai, China (Zhongshan Park area).

  14. Curious: Are you guys still looking for GermanPod teachers? I might keep my eyes open.

    Hello John,

I would like to email you my resume and cv, as long as your still taking applications.

I don’t think I’m alone in here when I say that I’m salivating over the prospect of working with the people at Praxis.

My email is my full name under case and with no spaces at Apparently my Microsoft Outlook has problems with the internet here in Shanghai, so I am unable to email you.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
